I have purchased Claxton fruitcakes for years, normally the regular and not the dark. This time though I thought I would try the dark for something different and as with the regular it was delicious with a little sweeter taste kind of a molasses flavor. Better served after refrigeration and easier to slice. A little goes a long way.

I have loved fruitcake since I was a little girl. Every year I look forward to having some but I’ve never had the nerve to make any. I was really looking forward to this fruitcake, but I can honestly say that it’s the worst I have ever ever tasted. Why? Because it was crammed full of raisins and hardly any of the other fruit and also the cake was too dry. I don’t know what spices were used but oh my goodness it was a horrible flavor. The one cake that I could into I had one slice on three different nights… I kept hoping it would grow on me. But to my regret it just got worse! I have the other two loaves sitting in the box just staring at me because I don’t dislike anybody enough to give the other two loaves to them. So bottom line, I just wasted all that money and still didn’t get my Christmas fruitcake. So I am whining And feeling ever so sorry for myself. On the recommendation of my boyfriend, who grew up eating this cake, I ordered the dark variety and couldn't believe how great this tastes! It's nothing like the other brands you see on store shelves. At all! I've never been one that likes fruitcake but this brand is completely different from anything I've ever had before. It's chock full of fruits, nuts and just the right amount of spices. I'll definitely be buying more for the holidays! Love it?
