Bought for elderly cat, not a baby. Does its job of keeping the cat out of the bedroom of our apartment. Very simple to "install"...all you really have to do is cut off some zipties and adjust the tension. Rubber stoppers keep the gate in the doorway when tension is adjusted as needed. I can only imagine that it would do the same for a baby as a 16-year old cat, as long as the adjustment lever is on the opposite side of the baby or animal, unless they are really good at climbing. Good product, would recommend for similar needs.
