My Samsung front load washer recently failed to spin, the issue was traced to a broken spider. The spider attaches to the stainless drum and to the motor which provides the energy for it to spin. The fact that the drum is stainless and the spider is made of some other material, likely zinc, causes galvanic corrosion and the unit rots and falls apart over time. There are no stainless steel spiders that I know of, so I went with it a Samsung OEM version. The spider fit well and was installed without issue, but I don't expect to get more than 6-8 years out of service just like the last one. It would be nice if they could somehow install a sacrificial plate in order for it to take the corrosive action instead of actual spider itself. The repair isn't too terribly difficult for someone with moderate mechanical skills, but it is time consuming and I don't want to have to go through it again. But if you choose to do it, this spider is as good any option available.Read full review

Inferior pot metal product that will last only 6-9 years. Need to wrap and mask off the shaft, then spray the pot metal base portion with anti corrosive zinc aluminum outboard boat motor spray paint before installing! Switch from powder to liquid detergent and you should get almost double the life before the next failure $$$$$$$$$

It was a perfect fit. Both the bolt holes lined up perfectly to the drum, and the bearing shaft fit perfectly. Appears to be a good quality casting also. Have you ever gotten, say furniture that you have to put together, and parts don't fit like they should? Well, this was just the opposite! Went together and functions like it should!

This is the Samsung spider with axle for the front load washers. I took my washer apart three times trying to solve the problem. Our original spider had corrosion but was still intact and no cracks showing. So replaced the 4 shocks and axle bearings. But problem of the drum spinning out of center continued. Finally figured the spider had to be the problem and it was. Washer runs very well now. As soon as we replaced the spider could see the basket drum was spinning on center again. Order the 6 screws needed to hold the spider. You wont get the old ones out easily ( broke one) and had to use a self-tightening wrench to grip them all. Socket wrench wouldn't work.

The part was in a Samsung box. Part was new. Appears to be an exact replacement for the broken part. The Samsung Spider/Drive Shaft Assembly self destructed in five years. Samsung products are not made to last. I am refurbishing this washer for resale.
