The Waste King garbage disposal is awesome, my last one lasted more than 10y with no issues. The new 1001 model fit my original fitting location exactly and was installed in 10 minutes. I also found this 1001 unit much quieter than the original unit, much improved. The power of this 1001 unit can also handle all I have put down the sink. Great price and great durability.

Pros - Easy to install. Cons - The throat is smaller than standard. You'll have to spoon feed whatever you're disposing. The unit starts with a loud 'thwack' because the cutter heads slap against divots in the cutter disk. Seems to run fine afterward. The power cord and strain relief are heat bonded to the housing. If you wish to hard wire it, you'll have to cut through the strain relief in order to remove it and the cord from the housing. I used a pocket knife and it wasn't very easy.

I bought this model because we don't really use the garbage disposal and if we do it is just small stuff like coffee grounds. This model is very cheap and has great specs for the price. We can live with the half horse power since we use it very little. The install was a breeze considering this was my first time replacing a garbage disposal. No tools required install! It's not particularly quiet, but it sounds the same as the badger model I was using before and we're use to it since doesn't get used often anyway. Great value for $50. We will see how long it holds up. Thanks.

Bought it to replace my broken Mainline 1900. Perfect fit. No Alteration or modification needed. Did not even need to apply any plumber putty since the rubber gasket that came with the package is water tight for my stainless steel sink (as also confirmed by the manufacturer's manual). Detailed installation manual gave good instructions.

Replace 2nd insinkerator . Last one didn’t last 4 yrs. this waste king was 1/2 the $. Installed diy . Hook up to sink was different so had to change part that attaches to sink but everything else hooked up the same with previous plumbing. Electric cord was already attached so plug n play. Smaller than original so more room under sink. Quiet operation so if it last I’ll give it a big thumbs up. So far so good.
