I already had a very similar circulator pump to what is normally included in the kit, so I didn't need to buy that part. We have an old house with plumbing running under a slab and getting hot water to the kitchen faucet could take a minute and a half, and then it it would cool off in the slab again very quickly if it wasn't used for 5 minutes. This caused a problem with the dishwasher because it was like filling the DW with cold water instead of hot. This kit, along with the pump I already had, fixed the problem. You need decent home owner plumbing skills to install the pump, so if you've never touched your plumbing before, have a backup plan in case you get stuck in the middle of the install.

It helped to get me warmer water to the side branches of my plumbing system after a plumber had installed the main recirculating pump. Unfortunately, this particular kit had a part (the adaptor) that was machined incorrectly and would not fit the tubing. I had to go to two hardware stores to find a replacement part that fit (part of a different kit) and that cost me an additional $7. I guess I could have returned it, but that would have involved more time and effort. The sensor valve itself, is so-so. Gets me warm water, but not hot water but that is better than the cold water that I had before.

The Watts hot water recirc system is ingenious! I had pipes that would always freeze up in the winter. A friend told me about the Watts recirc system - it sounded like a great idea, and it was relatively inexpensive, so I bought it. It was simple to install. It definitely took care of my pipe-freezing problem. Although I bought it for my freezing pipes, it also works well at it's advertised purpose, which is to give instant hot water at the tap. My shower is at the opposite end of the house from my water heater, and even in the middle of winter is only takes 8 seconds from when I turn the shower on that I can step in. This particular purchase was for an additional valve, so I can extend the system to another bathroom. The only caution is that valve that installs under the sink is a little on the brittle side. I over-tightened it and cracked it, and had to buy another valve. Just need to be careful when installing! I still gave it 5 stars, because the system is so great, and the over-tightening was partly my fault. Over all outstanding value!Read full review

A great invention. No doubt will save a lot of water over the course of its lifetime. Has no moving parts so nothing to break. Was very easy to install. Wish I would have discovered it sooner.

Its design is genius. I’ve looked for something to placate my wife who would constantly complain about cold water at her faucet and shower in the morning. Nothing I saw checked all the boxes until I saw this. Combined with a recirculating pump, this thermostatic valve lets the cold water recirculate back to the water heater and closes as the temperature approaches 100F. This keeps the hot water side hot but it also warms the cold water side so when you jump in the shower and turn on the cold water you don’t get icicles...at least not right away. And it’s dirt cheap when compared to installing recirculating lines to each leg of your hot water system. And, if you have a septic tank in your yard, this system will reduce the amount of water filling it waiting for the hot water at the taps.Read full review
