    I'm just starting out learning to play and this is perfect for beginners.
    And as other reviewers would tell you, it's by no means a professional model, but it plays wonderfully.
    Everything is in the right spot, looks beautiful, it's sturdy.

    The only drawback is the tuning pegs for the smaller strings.
    They don't like to stay tuned for very long.
    Remedied by pushing them in a little further, but the fault is still there.
    But that's the ONLY drawback. (That I've noticed anyway. I am a novice at Sitars after all)

    CRAP.........dented , broken ,pos . Strings (wires) where wrong. Replacement strings are wrong. Overall a piece of crap for 400 plus dollars. I say this again. RUN do not buy this junk. For 400.00 you would think it would at least be playable and not look like it was sitting in uncle Chester’s garage for ten years.

    I've been wanting a sitar for years and finally got this one. I chose it because I wanted to be able to use my Amazon card and this was one of the cheapest options on Amazon (I wasn't sure how dedicated to the sitar I'd be, so I didn't want to spend too much money on something I wouldn't stick with). If you are not particular to the vendor, I'd suggest getting the student model from Musicians Mall. I'm not familiar with the quality of that sitar, but it seems better than this one.

    So that brings me to the actual review of THIS item. It's decent enough. The build quality is not all that, but it's not going to fall apart either. It keeps tuned pretty well, but it definitely needs some setup to perform the best it can (which I haven't done yet even though I've had it for almost five months). You can't meend (bend notes) more than a couple of steps (Sa to Ma is almost not doable) without it drifting out of tune, and a few times I tried to meend more and the tuning peg popped out of place (which a proper setup probably would take care of). But it sounds nice and it does the job well enough for a student.
