Another ho hum game. Its OK but if I had it to do over again I would not purchase it. I should have rented it before I spent the bucks. Amazon did great though. Its not their fault if the game is below par. They promise to take the order properly and deliver when promised. They fulfilled their part well. Thanks.

First off, let me say that this game is no final fantasy nor golden sun, but a diamond in the rough. I was looking for some cheap entertainment mid semester so I happened upon this on amazon. The production values and graphics in this game are simple, the small amount of character models are reused, and the story is simple. Yet, it's charming and doesn't really hinder the game. It's kind of a throw back to SNES and PS1 JRPG's; it lacks polish but is endearing for its flaws. The story will not amaze you nor are the characters all that interesting, but the dialogue is funny in its roughness and it's funny to keep defeating the same character models. I love that there is kind of a Spanish and French thing to the two kingdoms involved in the overall conflict, when clearly the developers or translators did not see how it;s a little awkward. The awkward or bad dialogue makes it in some ways reminiscent of the original resident evil or house of the dead 2. The gameplay itself is actually pretty decent turn-based combat. The battle system is competent; each unit is a squad consisting of a commander and soldiers, and attacks are either directed at the commander, soldiers, or both. Being turn based you can draw out combat for an easy win, but challenge comes in trying for a quick win for the bonus xp and money. There are also special attacks tied to a special gauge which fills as one attacks or takes damage. These attacks can be a bit overpowered at times as they will either instant kill or leave the victim, but work in that they are available to both parties. Thus, you have to be careful of focusing attacks on one unit or prepare for a pyrrhic battle. There are damage bonuses attached to elements and the formation of the soldiers in the squad. Overall, in terms of gameplay there is nothing new but it's good enough to keep things interesting. All in all, this game lacks polish in many areas but is still quite fun and enjoyable. I would recommend this to fans of JRPG's that are looking for a cheap fun time. If you want to play a RPG that's a 9/10 that go buy a final fantasy or pokemon game, but if you are okay with a cheap but decent game that's more of 7/10 look no further.

I loved it .

This is a decent strategy game with some unique combat elements. You fight as a squad with a hero unit and each "attack" is a three round volley. Opens some interesting otions. The game just feels too lineir for me and even though there's a lot of recruitable hero's non of them really grow or are customizable. They gain levels and some corresponding stats but that's about it. Non enough variety in special skills/attacks/spells.

Overall it's worth a play through though.

I bought a ds and this game for the main fact that I love tactical rigs. This game is a cross between ff tactics and ogre battle. If you like to collect tactics games then I recommend getting this for your collection. Its fun and worth the price.

Hero's Saga proved to be a great disappointment to me. I was hoping for a FF Tactics but found that "tactics" is a loose term in this game. You are the hero who has a quest to save the kingdom thrust upon you, but you aren't given the tools to accomplish this deed. The game starts off with a couple of relatively easy encounters with the enemy kingdom, then it drops into "insane difficulty" mode without allowing for you to level up your armies to a competitive level. There also isn't much in the way of customization; you can recruit from a limited pool of characters, equip them with a paltry weapon, only to watch them get slaughtered in one turn by the enemy's special attack. Oh yes, you also get a special attack, but you're lucky if you aren't wiped off the the board before you get that special attack powered up. Your army has the "ability" to strike three different formations; defensive, straight attack, and all-out attack. You also get to choose where to place them on the map (up to a point), and that is the extent of the "tactics" in this game. I don't mind the difficulty increasing as you play, but without the ability to level up, you really don't stand a chance. The graphics are about what you would expect on the DS and the sound the same. The story may have eventually gotten better but after 10 hours of losing repeatedly, I simply gave up.
I can only recommend this for the hardcore strategist, but buyer beware...

4.0 out of 5 stars Spanish themed game

I've played quiet a few games (primarily via emulators) and this game seems to be for those who are familiar with the Spanish culture. I'm not sure for where, but there are plenty of Hermano and Hermana phrases in the game. The Gameplay is kind of slow, but it's not that bad of a game overall.
