I love how the strings are spaced further apart than a normal uke, it makes playing so much easier and more enjoyable. I would recommend this uke to beginners and intermediate players who want a quality instrument they can enjoy for a long time. Beginners might think that a cheaper uke would suit them better if they are unsure whether they want to continue their studies. I would advise against that, because a low quality or hard to play uke could be an easy turn off. The ou2p is the perfect mix of affordability, playability, and sound quality.
The action is a little high, but that is to be expected in this price range. Suprisingly it isn't hard on the fingers though.
The finish is nice, but a little darker than in the picture.
Oscar Schmidt knows how to make good string instruments and despite being their budget model, this uke lives up to their name.
I have the concert and baritone ukes that match this one. They do need a little set up work to be their best (what doesn't?), but the quality and workmanship is better than expected for this price. I oiled the fret boards of all three ukuleles. They were very dry from the factory. A couple of frets needed to have their ends dressed. That's easy though. The actions on this and the others is 3mm above the 12th fret, which is pretty standard but could be a little lower for my taste. Since ukuleles have no truss rods I'll shave the saddles down a bit eventually. But this is no big deal. Every player is different and likes their action a certain way. The open-back tuners are a bit stiff and have some play (wiggle) in them. They aren't high-end tuners but they get the job done, especially at this price. I touch of grease on the gears helps a lot. I use simple cork grease. If they used better tuners and raised the price a few dollars I would still buy them and love them even more.
I strung this in low-G tuning using an Aquila red series 71U unwound (plain) low G string. The extra internal volume of the pineapple body gives good bass response for this.
Overall I think Oscar Schmidt ukes are a good value and about the best you can buy at this price point. Go ahead and get one, they're a blast!

It looks exactly like the pictures that you see included here on Amazon.
It appears to be fairly sturdy. It has made the trip in the car through five states and then back again and held up to the jostling, moving, practicing experience.
It has a nice sound and seems easy to play.
It is a great ukulele for the price.
When you are not sure where to begin and you have looked at the wide range of prices and sizes and shapes and options for ukuleles; this is a great one to start with in order to learn the ukulele.
I love the size, the sound, the shape, the strings, everything. If I were a uke expert I'm sure I would have some problems with it, but for a first uke it was exactly what I wanted for a decent price.
My only complaint: I am so addicted to it that I may be dropping out of college to buy a hippie van and take my uke around the country. Ok, not really. But everyone should buy a uke and this one is a good option!
