The Shape!

The Shape!
I wanted a ukulele with this shape. The fact that it seems well made, sounds good, and has nice low action ... is a great benefit. I’m keeping this one!

I've been playing this uke for two months now. I absolutley love the resonance and warm sound it offers. I changed the strings to Aquila reds with a low G as the stock strings are much brighter, but you might prefer that sound. After a week of stretching the strings, it holds it's tuning great.

I love how the strings are spaced further apart than a normal uke, it makes playing so much easier and more enjoyable. I would recommend this uke to beginners and intermediate players who want a quality instrument they can enjoy for a long time. Beginners might think that a cheaper uke would suit them better if they are unsure whether they want to continue their studies. I would advise against that, because a low quality or hard to play uke could be an easy turn off. The ou2p is the perfect mix of affordability, playability, and sound quality.

The action is a little high, but that is to be expected in this price range. Suprisingly it isn't hard on the fingers though.
The finish is nice, but a little darker than in the picture.

Oscar Schmidt knows how to make good string instruments and despite being their budget model, this uke lives up to their name.

First, this arrived in record time and perfectly protected in shipment.

I have the concert and baritone ukes that match this one. They do need a little set up work to be their best (what doesn't?), but the quality and workmanship is better than expected for this price. I oiled the fret boards of all three ukuleles. They were very dry from the factory. A couple of frets needed to have their ends dressed. That's easy though. The actions on this and the others is 3mm above the 12th fret, which is pretty standard but could be a little lower for my taste. Since ukuleles have no truss rods I'll shave the saddles down a bit eventually. But this is no big deal. Every player is different and likes their action a certain way. The open-back tuners are a bit stiff and have some play (wiggle) in them. They aren't high-end tuners but they get the job done, especially at this price. I touch of grease on the gears helps a lot. I use simple cork grease. If they used better tuners and raised the price a few dollars I would still buy them and love them even more.

I strung this in low-G tuning using an Aquila red series 71U unwound (plain) low G string. The extra internal volume of the pineapple body gives good bass response for this.

Overall I think Oscar Schmidt ukes are a good value and about the best you can buy at this price point. Go ahead and get one, they're a blast!

Shipping was fast....boxed very well.....I'm new to Ukulele but I have played bass and guitar for the past 15+ years. Took a few days for the strings to stretch but sounds great. I thought it was made well and the tone is great....as most would say I think changing out the stings it comes with might help.....the GHS stings that came with it are ok but want to try others. I'm very glad I went with the concert for my 1st ukulele and I love the shape.....I think I want a tenor now

This is a very pretty pineapple ukulele. It showed up on our doorstep well wrapped and packaged carefully in order to arrive perfectly.
It looks exactly like the pictures that you see included here on Amazon.

It appears to be fairly sturdy. It has made the trip in the car through five states and then back again and held up to the jostling, moving, practicing experience.

It has a nice sound and seems easy to play.

It is a great ukulele for the price.
When you are not sure where to begin and you have looked at the wide range of prices and sizes and shapes and options for ukuleles; this is a great one to start with in order to learn the ukulele.

I am a beginning uke player, and I love, love, love this uke!! I ordered a different brand last year based on reviews, and I couldn't get it to stay in tune to save my life. I thought I may have been doing something wrong, but when I got this uke and tuned it, it stayed in tune for weeks without needing much adjustment. The sound is amazing and the quality is outstanding. I couldn't be happier.

This is my first uke, and I read the ratings before I chose this one and was not disappointed.

I love the size, the sound, the shape, the strings, everything. If I were a uke expert I'm sure I would have some problems with it, but for a first uke it was exactly what I wanted for a decent price.

My only complaint: I am so addicted to it that I may be dropping out of college to buy a hippie van and take my uke around the country. Ok, not really. But everyone should buy a uke and this one is a good option!

I really wanted to like this pineapple ukulele. I have 2 other OS ukes (Tenor & Concert) and am happy with the quality of each. This pineapple uke looked like a cheap knock off. Headstock had no woodgrain. Looked like it was painted. Tuners were NOT closed backed as pictured but cheap no-name geared tuners that would not stay tuned.

The instrument appears to be well made, it is certainly well finished, the sound is pleasing and it stays in tune (although I did change the strings)
I enjoy it greatly and am very glad I bought it
