Do you hum in the shower? Do you think you know the lyrics to all songs and sing them privately in the car? THIS IS YOUR GAME! We just bought it for our cousins but we have owned it for almost 2 years. Each person privately makes up A list of Trigger words like dragon or angel. The Tunesmith gives a word from their list, then if it is your turn, you have to sing a song that has the trigger word. (You have to sing at least 5 words.) Their are also Spontuneous Clef cards. You have to do whatever it says. For example, you have 15 seconds to sing an entire Jingle. OR You were singing in the shower and broke the mirror with your high pitched voice. 7 years bad luck...Go back to Start. You can see the cards are very silly. You may think this is only for singers...No way! EVERYONE! We started playing when my youngest was 7. Now 9. She loves that game and we have a game wall! I have a 14, and 16 year old and they think it is fun too.We like taking this one with us to parties, especially family get togethers. It is fun for 5 or 25 and team play. It is perfect.Get yourself a game! You will not regret it! Enjoy!

This game is great for a family night and I highly recommend. Especially if you're having friends or family over and the drinks are flowing! It's very easy to play and the directions are decent. My only critiques are the following (hopefully the creator is reading and can give some feedback):
When you have to sing at least 5 words of a song based on someone's keyword they yell out, do the 5 words need to be different? We've had a couple friendly family arguments about this one. Some feel that the chorus from a song counts, even though it may have the same word repeated like 4 times. This technically passes the rules in the directions, but a lot of the players feel extremely cheated.

Also, rules when someone reaches the end seem a bit off. No specifics in the directions of when the winner loses the challenge. What next? There is no penalty? you just sit at the finish line till its your turn again? Are you allowed to participate in the rest of the round? If you win the round, do you now win the game since you're already at the finish line?

Aside from these critiques the game is a lot of fun and has become our #1 choice when I'm together with my family.

My family and our guests enjoy this game very much, even the reluctant players ended up belting out their favorite songs. None of us can sing - ok, well maybe 2 out of the 8 that played had nice voices, the rest of us didn't care. It took a little bit for us to really get into the game. Each person gets their own paper for trigger words and then you start rolling the dice. What I liked best about this game is the cards you can draw. They're very fun and creative. My 16 year old nephew had to make a rap (he loves rock so this was a challenge), and I had to sing the national anthem...by myself. It was hilarious. Since we had players that were 12 to 65, we had quite the range of music and songs. Often the generations didn't know each other's music, but that's okay.

This is definitely a game where the more fun you make it, the more fun it will be. Meaning, if you just sit there and don't sing, it will probably suck. If you're up for some mind bending challenges and a good time, bring your energy and let loose. It's actually quite hard to think of songs on the spot while everyone else is chiming in with their own tunes. I found my entire iPod would disappear from my mind and I wasn't very good at the personal challenges. No worries, I still had a blast and look forward to playing again.

Very creative game that will change each time you play it depending on the players. I would recommend for teens, families, a groups of friends. All around great game for all (little ones may be lost, but will enjoy the songs:)

Three other family members and I played this game one day after lunch. None of us had ever played it before, but it was fairly easy to pick up on and a lot of fun to play. You basically all write down a list of words and then take turns reading one word from that list as you flip the timer, and everybody else tries to be the first person to sing/yell/blurt out at least five words from the song, one of which must be the word called out for that round or a form of that word (such as "snowman" if the word is "snow"). If nobody can do it, whoever read the word has to prove it exists by presenting the lyrics, and majority rules/Google can settle any disputes. Whoever wins the round rolls the dice and advances. There are spaces with treble clefs on them that require you to draw a card and follow its instructions, and that adds a little surprise here and there to the game. This game is best played with at least four people. The more the merrier! It sounds simple, but it's not so easy to come up with even the most obvious answers when you're put on the spot and only have 15 seconds to start your response. It comes with a board, markers in various colors that look like little chess pawns, a pair of dice, a stack of treble clef cards, a sand timer, four presharpened pencils, and a pad of paper for your songs.

On this game it’s a little harder because the people get to pick the song and give keywords it’s not like a song that is already there and being that there’s a lot of mixed genres that makes it a little bit more difficult.

I have purchased this game two years in a row as a Christmas gift for families. This past Christmas, the family I gifted it to LOVED it and we have been playing as much as we can! We have played with ages ranging from 10 years to 40+ years. However, the 10-year-old does have trouble with thinking of songs quickly.

Spontuneous requires thinking of a list of "trigger words." When it is your turn, give one of your trigger words and everyone has 15 seconds to SING a song with AT LEAST 5 words including your trigger word. Whoever sings and wins the round can roll the dice to move their piece forward on the board. If no one can sing it, YOU have to prove that you actually know a song with that trigger word and you may roll the dice to move forward. I liked to make it challenging so of course, I can win! For example, my trigger word was "except" in which no body knew a song including that word! My song in mind: "What can I say EXCEPT you're welcome!" (From Moana)

As your piece moves forward on the board, you may land on clef and pick a card. These cards have fun challenges and have your piece advance a few spaces, but they can also move your piece aaaallll the way back to start - I know from experience as I was SO CLOSE to the finish line!!

Not sure if there's already a rule for this situation, but we made one anyways. Our rule was that if more than one person began singing the same exact song, the winner is whoever can sing the song the longest!

Overall, Spontuneous is such a blast for ALL ages and I highly recommend for a fun, competitive, hilarious game night!

After wanting this for 3 years I finally decided I needed to have it. And it was worth every penny. The premise is something that happens in our house every day.. breaking out in song because someone says one word. But it ended up being more challenging than anticipated as it put everyone on the spot.. which gave so many laughs.
