Can I use the EP-3 with my modular/semi-modular devices?

The EP-3 is a passive expression pedal. In order to control CV devices, the pedal needs to be powered, as passive expression pedals do not generate voltages by themself.

Can the EP-3 be used as a volume pedal?

Unlike a line volume pedal, there is just a single out connecting to the expression pedal input on your device. You can approximate this effect if your device allows volume to be controlled via the expression input.

What does the “standard/other” switch do?

The “standard” mode is designed for use with Moog synthesizers and expression pedals. The “other” mode ensures compatibility with non-Moog gear and will work with most synthesizers with an expression input.

Will I need a TS cable or a TRS cable for use with the EP-3?

The EP3 will only function with a TRS cable.

What are the specs of the internal pots?

Both internal pots are B100K.

Don't forget the magic "Standard / Other" switch on the bottom of the pedal.

Don't forget the magic "Standard / Other" switch on the bottom of the pedal.
I bought this to go with my old digital effects pedal, the rp150. The rp150 has a 'Control In' jack. I bought this to be able to use wah effects and such. At first, i thought it didn't work! I was bummed. Then i flipped the pedal over and saw a switch. "Standard / Other" What does standard or other mean? I couldn't tell you, but what I can tell you is that when i flipped the switch to OTHER, it worked!!! So, If it doesn't work for you at first, check out that switch on the underside of the pedal.
Thank you for your feedback

Works perfectly. Almost seemlessly plug-n-play. Just have to "tell" your Fractal how to communicate with it. Has a nice clean smooth wah sweep and raised just a little for a good foot height. Needs only one cable, and it comes with that (TRS cable)! Probably will want one longer; it's about 6 foot, I think.. Decent value. Any cheaper, and you will possibly just get lesser build quality. That said, this is a robust pedal that I CAN stand on rocked to one side!! lol. But, beyond reasonable use, don't intentionally beat on it on the road and expect it to function perfectly forever.

If you are planning to use it with Maschine you will need Expression pedal to USB converter.
I have "DOREMIDI MPC-10" and they works great with it, sometime I need to unplug and plug it back again but that is the expression pedals issue
I am using Maschine mk3 and Guitar rig software.

I bought it to control the wah effect in Bias Fx. It works well for that application, but I wish there was an expression pedal with a toe switch to turn the effect on and off like a real wah pedal. As it is, it's still a great pedal.
Reviewed in the United States on August 14, 2023
Like many people I had the issues with the pedal not doing the full sweep, outputing logarithmic output, etc. It comes with basically no instructions, so it's very confusing. Zero points for instructions. I'm using it to hook up with my Yamaha MX 88 Synth. Turned out I needed to flip the polarity switch on the bottom to "other", and adjust the knob on the side to about 3 o' clock, and it worked great!

It was rather difficult figuring out how to actually control the voices using the pedal, as the Yamaha manual is very dense but that's on Yamaha, not Moog. For example lets say I wanted to set up a Wah effect on the guitar sound. First I chose my guitar voice. Then I had to set which CC to control in the Utilities > Controller > FC1. This is basically giving the controller a name that MIDI can use. I picked CC#12 because it was unused. Then I had to find the effect I wanted to do in Edit > Part > 05: Voice Insert Eff, trying to figure out what all these ridiculous abbreviations mean. Turns out the one I was looking for was "WAH: VCM PedalWah". Then finally I set the effect to be controlled by the foot controller in Edit > Part > 07: Voice Ctrl Set > Set6 (pick an unused set) > Source = FC1, "Dest=INSA:EfPdCtl", Depth=+63

And then finally with all these gosh dang settings, the darn guitar sound actually went wah. So much gobbledegook abbreviations bleah

I bought this unit to use with my Fractal AX8 and it works flawlessly. Great, smooth pedal travel. Made of durable plastic. I also liked the height of the pedal. It sits a little taller on my pedalboard which makes it easier to access. The price is right and the expression pedal is perfect for Wah, Volume or effects control.

I recently bought a delay pedal with an expression pedal input. I wanted to try it out but didn’t want to spent $100 on an expression pedal. I was skeptical of a plastic pedal, but I trust Moog, so I went for it. And I’m happy I did. This thing is tough and the action is smooth. It’s a nice addition to my setup.

Ordered this with a bit of trepidation, in spite of the good reviews. You never know these days. But after receiving it and giving it a test drive with my AxeFx II+ and MFC101 I'm sold. Solid and substantial metal construction. Food pad is just a touch shorter than that of a standard Cry Baby but much longer than the Boss EV-5. Extremely long travel path. Pedal action/tension not stiff but stays right where you leave it for continuous adjustments. Looks like you may be able to tighten it via the bolt on the side as well. Back of pedal well suited to pedalboard mounting. Given the plug placement at the top of the pedal, I'd have preferred a right angle plug on at least one side, but that's not a showstopper by any stretch. I have a Cry Baby that I converted to an expression pedal for wah, but I think I'm going to replace it with another one of these. Tremendous value.

Although it was annoying that the seller took his time dispatching the product, it arrived 4 days before the expected delivery date. It was worth the wait none the less, as this is top quality stuff. You couldn't ask for a better expression pedal, and paired with my ax-8, it makes it a hell of a lot easier for me modulate to my heart's content. 10/10 would recommend.
