I am very pleased with this auger bit. It fit in my Harbor Freight auger perfectly and makes this a post hole digging monster. Last week I bored 15 holes for a wood fence in less than 1 hour! (the 8" holes are much more stable for long runs in windy areas and 2 bags of concrete under a 4x4.)

The extension tip on the end really cuts through the clay and bedrock and the larger auger pulls up the bigger rocks much better than the 6".

Oddly, the little spring at the neck really seems to help when you hit something hard too. It gives you a little action on the hard stuff rather than throwing the machine around. Typically, drilling 15 post holes on my own would be a killer task....this auger bit, and the ground we were drilling certainly played a factor, but it was easy. The hardest part was physically lifting the machine around.

Anyway, it is unusual for me to be happy about any tool, but I felt so happy about this one I had to write a review!

I was very skeptical purchasing this item with so many reviews on the missing fishtail end, but took a chance and bought it anyway. I'm happy to report the box arrived with the fishtail part included! Overall this bit is a big upgrade from the 6" bit I was using for digging post holes and works well for that purpose.
