Relax everyone
5 Stars
Relax everyone
Everyone is ranting on about how bad of a simulation game this is but it is an ARCADE game, which means it is more fun and more fast paced than a simulation game, which takes an hour and a half to play 9 innings. The stadium graphics are great, and the player graphics aren't bad either. Of course I would love a simulation game for the Xbox, but this will do.

I wanted to get a baseball game for my 10, 7 and 4 year old boys to play but did not want to spend $40-60 on one. I remember playing this as a teenager and loved it! I am very happy with the purchase. The gameplay is good enough for a novice or beginner and you can update the rosters anytime to reflect the current MLB club's rosters. This is definitely a hit in my household and will prepare my boys for a more challenging baseball game down the road.

Wow, what a horrible, horrible game. I love to play baseball video games. I've played many over the years and for the most part, they've been pretty good. But this one....wow again. Total suck. Here's my take:

- Pitching is lame. You have a choice of where to pitch horizontally but not vertically. You can choose somewhat between a fastball, in the dirt and a bit of a curve. But again, it's only horizontal. There's no sinking curve. Just lame.
- Batting is virtually impossible. I say virtually because even a blind squirrel gets a nut every now and then. The speed at which you pitch is vastly different than the speed at which the computer pitches. So your timing is off when you try to swing.
- Another note about batting. The pitches are coming so fast, and your batter is swinging so slow, you have to decide to swing well before you can determine if it's going to be a ball or a strike.
- There's no batting practice mode. You're playing a full game against an opponent or you're not.
- You can't adjust the batter's eye. The only angle is from ABOVE the batter. No change whether you're pitching or hitting, same view.

I got it on pre-order for $15 because I'm a Prime member. Worst $15 I've ever spent. What a waste.

The play time is OK. Graphics and controls need to improve a lot. The things I don't like about the controls is that it doesn't give you full control over the batting or filding positions specially. You just have partial control. For example: They improved in the fact that now the players will jump, dive etc., but it does it automatically and not like other games that you had to press a button to make the player do this things. The same goes for batting, you only press a button to bat and even when you try to hit a fly ball or a grounder the player moves all over the batters box when you attempt to have control over his batting options. It make's batting confusing.

I understand the negative reviews for this game. I remember R B I baseball from when I was a kid. i haven't tried '14 or '15, so this year I thought I'd give '16 a shot. I figure it gave them a few years to fix any bugs and what not, and improve the game after a long time away.
Now if you've never played this, it's a very simple baseball game. This isn't The Show. It's basically a one button game.
Short list of positives and negatives.
Positives: Roster did an update when I first turned the game on. Seems there is an option in the setting to update, so if there are mid-season trades and such, maybe the roster can be updated to reflect that. As I'm an Indians fan, checking my roster seemed exactly how their opening day roster would be. The pics had a few players from their old teams (in their uniforms), but that's ok as at least they'd been updated to the Indians team.
Pitching - first game I played, I quickly remember that you push the button and pick a direction and that's how the pitch will go. Left/right/up(slow)/down(Fast). Simple. Just like the old days.
Stadiums - Cleveland's looked just like it should. I haven't been there since they updated it this year (I've moved away from OH so haven't been there in years. But it looked like I'd remember.
Negatives:
Sounds - Very 8-bit. I guess the retro feel is cool. But they could have updated the sounds a little.
Hitting - Ok, here is where my issue is. The hitting on normal is just dang near impossible. I'm not sure if it's because my eye-hand is gone, or because it's just freaking impossible to hit. I played 1 game, Indians vs. Yankees. I lost 2-0. Granted not bad, but I only had 2 hits. I'm pretty sure I had 25 strikeouts, lol.
Neutral:
Outfielding - You can turn auto fielding on, or off if you feel like looking like a fool. I tried both. With it off, I couldn't catch anything. I'll need some practice.
Gfx - I know this isn't the show, but it's not 1993 either. It pretty much looks like PS2 gfx. If you're ok with that, then no biggie. I wasn't expecting Xbox one look, but maybe PS3/Xbox 360.
Anyhow, if you're just looking to play a few games here and there, for less than $20 (I think I paid $15.99 with PRIME), it's worth it. If anything just to get that baseball feel out of my system for a bit.
If you see The Show and hope this is somewhat close... keep looking cause you'll be a sad panda.
Hope this helped... (and Go Tribe!).

This game suffers from many flaws that you would think would be common sense. I wish a developer would hire people that grew up playing nintendo, snes, genesis, etc. playing RBI Baseball and would have some greater insight. For starters, yes this includes all of the mumbo jumbo MLB licenses that have the players and teams. Which I assume cost a fortune. However, the gameplay is not good at all. There is no dive command. In my experience this is crucial. I believe it is automatic. Which, I would assume automatic features would be great for mundane task like driving or cleaning; but, when it comes to playing a game of skill, I would prefer manual. For some reason, the developers decided to change the mechanics of out the timing and how to hit the baseball. It sucks. What makes RBI baseball, a fun game, is not a sim. We want the ball to move in wild manners. Online play is a great theory; however, it is a lag fest. It is unplayable. If I could get a refund, I would. I will be purchasing RBI Baseball 2017, because I can only assume that it would be better. One day you guys will get it right, I hope. Of course, that's why I still have my classic consoles plugged up. If I could only go online with those............ In short, last years version is better. Sad to say, the best version was the first one a few years back..

At first, my child thought this game was boring when he first started the game--after figuring out all different ways to play it, he realized that it is a really fun game. I previously said it was boring in the review, but I have to change that review---sometimes you just have to play the game for a while to see that it really is fun.:)
