I bought this uke for my wife. I have a couple of them plus banjolele's and banjos. When I opened the package I was very pleasantly surprised. First the case is made very well and looks great. The uke is very pretty and light. The biggest surprise was the sound and ease of play. The action on the strings makes it easy to learn cords and strum. It is quickly becoming my go to instrument even though, like I said, I have a collection. Some of them pretty expensive. It's just an incredible value.....worth much more!

► A tip for tuning your new Ukulele: Are you finding your new ukulele always needs tuning every time you want to play it? This is really common, particularly with new strings. Nylon strings take a certain amount of stretching before they settle down and hold their tune. How to solve: Tune it to the desired note, then pull up on the string over the sound hole to give it a bit of a stretch. That'll take it down about 2 whole notes, tune it back up and repeat until it stays in tune. A lot of folks who maybe aren't used to stringed instruments, especially nylon strings, get frustrated, but don't worry, these are decent strings, they just need a good stretch! |

OK for beginners
Bought this Ebony Tenor 3 months ago and have been playing it everyday since as a beginner.Pros: It is lightweight, sounds decent and came with strap buttons and a nice colorful stap. Also has very beautiful wood grains, so it looks very nice if you hang it on the wall. Since it is laminate, you don't have to worry about humidity levels. It is a low maintenance ukulele.Cons: When it first arrive, one of the strings was buzzing, and the buzzing sound came from the headstock. I tightened the sting posts on the headstock with pliers and it was fixed. The top and body is all laminate wood, so the sound is not as warm and nice compared to a solid top ukulele. However, for the price and for beginners, this is good enough for a start.I would recommend this if you don't mind a laminate tenor as a everyday ukulele for practice. But if I have the chance to do it all over, I would just spend $50-$60 more and go straight for their solid spruce top concert/tenor for a better sound. The better sound will inspire you to continue to learn and play, and in the long run, getting a $100-$150 solid top saves you more money than buying a few cheaper laminates (unless you like collecting them).

Took a chance and would recommend to anyone wanting a well built ukelele.

I wanted to personally go pick out a ukelele for my daughter for xmas. Always scared of what you might get ordering online, I went to some music shops around Pittsburgh nothing really caught my eye and played nice. Moral to the story I took a chance on this because I loved the way the ebony looked. Well it arrived today and as soon as I opened the box I was impressed. I still feel it's 50/50 on what you may get ordering online but this ukelele is well built, sounds great, and looks even better.
