I play a steady church gig and other freelance gigs in the corporate/private market as well as some studio work. I’ve been auditioning my bass collection (P, MM, EUB, U-bass, upright, and cello) through this unit and it sounds really great! The preamp eq section (my favorite on this pedal) is really warm and musical. The compressor is useable if you watch the strength of your input signal. The octaver effect is pretty meaty for an old school vibe with typical tracking results of an analog design. The chorus and envelope follower are pretty limited but functional. The tuner also works ok, but might leave you wanting for more precision or flexibility.
I’m really pleased with this pedal’s ability to improve the overall tone of my instruments. I am a meat and potatoes type of player on most gigs. I want the instrument to sound full and clear through the amp or in ear monitors. The Valeton allows me to quickly dial up a great tone, mute while I tune, and throw in some decent effected sounds when needed, and it fits in my gig bag with tons of room to spare.
I currently own a Line 6 helix stomp and various pedals. I have also owned the Aguilar tonehammer, Tech 21, EBS preamps as well. They are all great in their own way, but if you are looking for a highly functional gigging in the trenches multi effect unit on a budget then the Dapper is a hell of a deal!
I might buy another for backup!

Unreal! Just like a Bass Fly Rig
I used to own the original Bass Fly Rig. I loved it. When I got back into playing again, I was going to buy the new version of it. But at the last second, I decided to try this pedal.For such a low price was it even worth trying?Was it too good to be true?THIS THING IS AMAZING! I can't get over it. It sounds and behaves just like the Tech21 Product. You can make so many great tones. It sounds so warm and analog (that is a good thing). I mainly use compression and EQ when I play. I don't really use the octave feature or the dirty Q. It sounds neat. But I don't use those features enough to fairly judge them. The chorus is great though!This pedal is easy to learn and fun to use. I also tried a digital pedal recently & it was so confusing. The Dapper is much easier. I like knobs, you see. I've just learned that about myself.Anyway, I use this with the XLR port to plug into the PA and there is zero noise. The signal is as it should be...your bass guitar. The tuner is fast and accurate which is an improvement compared to the Fly Rig.My only criticism is that when I plugged headphones into it, I only got signal the left channel. It isn't the end of the world but it would be nice to hear it through both sides when plugged in via headphones. I don't know if I would ever even use headphones to practice. But it would have been nice to have the option.One more thing...the size is identical to the Bass Fly Rig. I was hunting for a suitable gig bag for this thing. Then I came across the bag in my photo. It fits perfectly. Oh, the irony.If you are considering the Tech21 Bass Fly Rig, and want to save a few bucks...get this pedal. They are a newer brand but I find their product to be outstanding.
