I can play the dvd just fine, but I give it 3 stars because it will not play blu-ray dvd. This was not clear to me prior to purchasing it and I was disappointed when I learned of it. I guess the 2016 was the last version to play blu-ray which is confusing to me. I don't understand why a product would be less-cutting-edge with technology. I was really hoping I could get an all-in-one program that did everything I was needing as well as played blu-ray dvd.

This software is difficult to use and they don't tell you how to get the manual, which is also not on their webpage. You have to download an app on windows 10 to get the manuals. The main reason it gets one star though is because IT DOES NOT RIP COPYRIGHTED DVDS OR BLU RAYS! Why would you sell a product that is to rip dvds and blu rays, but it does not have the ability to rip copyrighted ones, which is every dvd that I own. It is a waste of money.

I only wanted a product which would allow me to create a simple playable DVD from a file of pictures (.jpg files) to share with relatives. Tried 3 free programs which would NOT work. All could create a data disc with files but not a DVD playable on any DVD player. So I bought Nero Platinum 18. Yes it did the job, but it took me almost 6 hours. It was NOT intuitive. Had to first create a slideshow from a simple folder of .jpg picture files which saved in both .nrg and .mp4 formats then again very difficult to figure out how to use one of those to burn a playable DVD movie to a DVD. After all the unsuccessful menu choices it finally worked and I am not even sure now which of the 2 file formats it used. Yes it did the job but it was extremely complicated for a novice who only wanted to create a simple playable slideshow DVD with no music, no edits, no special effects or titles.
