This kit has everything I needed to start needle felting, right out of the box. A total newbie, I decided to make acorns to start with to decorate a mini tree. I did buy a large pack of natural colored roving to use for cores, because the packs of wool in this one looked pretty small in the photo.
Well, there is a lot more wool in those packs than I expected and the range of colors is awesome. The roving is very clean, consistent color, and I found it easy to work with. Still learning, but pleased with the results.
I appreciate that all the tools are in a small box so I can keep things tidy. The finger protectors actually fit and are nicely made. There are a few extras, like eyes, but I think this is a great beginner kit because you get more than enough to make quite a lot of things without a bunch of 'extras' that you may never use.
Great value for someone wanting to learn needle felting! Bonus: Great stress reliever at the end of a hectic day.

Great set at a good price for a beginner
Okay, I decided that I needed a new hobby for 2020. For various reasons, not the least of which was the opportunity to stab something repeatedly, I opted for needle felting. I chose this particular product based on a combo of reviews plus price.It came when promised. The plastic that held the plastic that held the product was sticky as old thick plastic sometimes gets; I discarded it. Unlike the product pictures, the finger guards (necessary for a beginner) were white, and one had a blue ballpoint pen mark as if someone had tried the product and then returned it. Didn't affect performance, but still a bit disappointing. The other pieces were fine.I was able to download the project booklet just fine, and I made the little owl as my first project. It was fairly easy, though I expect an innate craftiness is a benefit. The needle did bend at some point, but I was still able to use it.The reason I'm knocking off a star is because of the feeling that it wasn't entirely new. Since I'm a beginner, it wasn't an issue. However, it would have seemed a bit cheap had it been a gift. Overall, a great beginner set.

This kit is perfect and comes with everything you need. I had seen a few beginner's how-to videos on YouTube that made no mention of finger guards, so I never would have known about them. They certainly came in handy and I got through my first project without hurting myself once. I love the variety of colored wool included. You can make literally anything you want. Needle felting was easier than I'd expected and I may start experimenting without set instructions but I'm glad the ebook came with it to give me a chance to practice basic principles. I've only done one project so far but I got through it without breaking a needle so I'm happy about that. I honestly wouldn't mind buying a second kit to have a back up for all my tools and to double the huge collection of wool it came with.

This is my first needle felting kit and I LOVE it!! The finger guards saved me from so very many stab wounds. So far I haven't broken a needle, but I know it will happen eventually (that's just how it goes according to my research). I've done a couple of small projects, starting with the basic shapes included in the kit, and then doing my own thing.
This kit sets you up for a lot of small projects. I was surprised how far each color went. I got a bunch of un-dyed roving to use for larger projects, so I can do the bulk of it without color and add the color to the top. You can also use foam or something to put in the middle of large pieces and layer roving on top. So many possibilities!!!!!
I recommend this kit to anyone who wants to try out needle felting!!

I think this is a great starter kit! It has everything you need to start practicing! I’ve been making cute little animals. And I love the variety of colors. But if you are serious about this being a hobby- you may want to invest in a better kit. The styrofoam mat starts to get worn down after a few uses. But it’s very easy to use and I’m enjoying it so far! Make sure to protect your fingers while felting! :)
