I bought this unit to use with my Raspberry Pi 3 Model B, 7" touchscreen, and 120GB SSD drive. This GPS unit just plain works. No grief, no surprises, no struggles. Plug the unit into a free USB port on your Pi, run "sudo apt-get install gpsd" to install the basic GPS tools for the Pi, and away you go. (EDIT: See the review by Oscar Blanco, for more complete instruction.) The unit is quick to lock onto satellites, even indoors in my apartment. I'm building up this Pi to be as versatile as possible, and one thing I wanted to do was run the Navit car navigation software, with maps from OpenStreetMap. This little GPS unit works flawlessly, as you can see in the pic. There's nothing bad, tentative, or troubling to say about this unit. A great addition to my Pi.

I got one of these to act as a time source for an Inovato Quadra when doing Parks On The Air in areas with no internet connection. This is a Linux based single board computer much like a Raspberry Pi3. I first set it up to work with Chrony and it worked fine. I have since gone to using Conky and it works a treat. I am able to get lock with 15 satellites from in side the house! Very good reciever once you get the software side of things sorted. Will be buying another in the future.

Bought this to create a ntp time server. it works like a champ. I tried the Adafruit gpsd node in node red. It works great with this dongle. Its practically plug and play. Gets a 3d fix almost immediately. The long pigtail allows for placement away from the host device. the magnetic base keeps it in place while in motion. all good.

I am using this GPS dongle with a Raspberry Pi 4B. I use the Raspberry Pi to operate amateur radio digital modes (FT8/JS8). I got the dongle so that I would have an accurate clock while operating without internet. Using the dongle on a window sill inside the house I am picking 10 to 12 satellites with no problem and getting very accurate time without an internet connection. I am very happy with this purchase. Thank you.

This is using an older version 7 of U-Blox chips, they are up to version 10 now. It has firmware ver. 1.00 and can't be updated since it has no eprom but still seems to work pretty well. It installed without any problems in Windows 10 running the U-Blox utility u-center and also worked OK in Google Earth. To get it working in Linux is a bit harder and I had to follow the steps shown on the Canada GPS website entitled "How to connect an usb GPS receiver with a Linux computer?" When first setup it takes quite a while to get started since it's data is blank and didn't do much for nearly 3 hours indoors but then it will take right off each time after that so it must have a buile in battery. It also seems to need to be stuck onto a metal surface for best reception.

I don't have any problems with this. I use it for the software for tracking weather balloons and their landing. It's very accurate and I've been able to pinpoint weather balloon landing locations by driving almost right to the location it landed at. I can see me on a map to match the weather balloon location is how this tool comes to use. I could also use it with my astronomy equipment but I don't know how. As I can tell it will also be good for that too. I didn't install drivers and I use Windows 11 on a laptop. It may have installed the drivers for me when I plugged it in. It sticks to the roof of my car, but I use it on my dash. It won't stick to anything there, so I got a little clamp to hold wires and used it to hold the GPS pug to the dash. GPS lock seems to be instant. I've never noticed a delay.
