The magnets themselves are fine and I can see where they would have many uses. I bought them to hold a calendar on the side of my fridge. They are supposed to hold 20# but with 1 magnet my calendar slid to the floor. With 2 it was ok. Using 3 is pretty stable. So I have 3 magnets with a total of 60# holding power to hold up 1 calendar that weighs less than a pound.

These are very strong magnets. I can hang up a steel folding chair with just one of these. I also hang up a three step aluminum ladder with just one. If there’s a downside to this power it’s that they are somewhat difficult to position correctly because they are so hard to move. For some lighter weight applications I decrease the staying power somewhat by sticking some masking tape between the magnet and the surface that it’s attached to.

I love these strong magnets. They are in our tornado shelter ( hanging from the ceiling ) and one hook is supporting a roughly 20lb backpack and the other a 40lb + backpack. I'm also hanging a Streamlight lantern from one as well. I love that they can swivel different directions and also love the subtle and smooth hook shape so that they don't tear into the backpack straps.
Magnets have be attached horizontally, not vertically, to hold their intended weight. Almost every bad review I see about magnets, is a result of not using them properly. No you can't hang a 20lb frying pan on the side of your slick refrigerator with a penny sized magnet, but you can hang an 80lb+ weight with a magnet the size of a thick nickel attached to the ceiling of a storm shelter. These hooks get a A++ for my intended purpose.
