We bought this JIMU robot for my 8 yr. old son. He was super excited to see a robot that he can build himself.
He with his dad really enjoyed building it out using their iPad instead of a paper manual. It is so much fun because you can see the simulation on screen and touch and rotate the images while building robot at each step. So it is easy to visualize and also drag and drop makes it easier for kids to program it. At the same time it teaches the basic concepts of programming and coding and how robots work etc.
The JIMU robots are very cool and innovative toys which helps to develop kids' imagination and interest in coding. And all this while using their favorite tool i.e. iPad or phone.

Excellent build and instructions
I got this for my two grandsons, ages 6 and 12. It turns out the 6 year old got very interested in this. He can read already, so I thought I would sit with him to build. He has an iPad and this kit has an app where you can view the instructions step by step on how to build and program. Within a half hour, he shooed me away and continued on his own. The recommended minimum age is 8 years old, but he is already reading and loves to build things, so his motivation really helped. Any time he had a question, I helped him, but most of the time he figured it out himself. The instruction app allows you to 3D rotate the image of what you are building, showing you how the next piece(s) go into place. The quality of the pieces is great, and no parts were missing. Very nicely packaged. My grandson just loved spending a couple of days working on this (over 400 pieces) including programming. I am attaching a few pictures showing him in action during the build. This kit teaches him about gears, motors, programming, etc. VERY NICE KIT!
