I have a large, heavy windchime that I needed to hang in an open concept apartment. (Translation: nowhere to put anything, lots of vertical, empty space, can't attach anything to the walls because lease says so). I decided a clothes rack would do the trick. I researched tons of them: flimsy / expensive / hard to assemble / all of the above. Fortunately I discovered THIS one. Claims of sturdiness and easy assembly abound. Being that I just moved into an apartment (from a house with a pine tree where the windchime lived) and was hemorrhaging money, I needed a rack at a fair price. THIS WAS IT. I LOVE that it comes with it's own tools -- a wrench for the wheels and an allen wrench for four screws for the base. It really was pretty easy to put together. Five steps, spring loaded steel spring loaded snaps, decent picture instructions and a materials list so I could make sure that everything needed was included. (Yes.) The one place I ran into difficulty was with the three pieces of the base. There are holes in the two outside base pieces and spring loaded snaps in the one that goes in the middle. The instructions don't show whether the holes face up or face down. (They need to face down and so does the middle piece with the spring loaded snaps.) I had one more piece to snap in before I was done.and then discovered I had to take the base apart to turn the outside base pieces hole-side down. I unscrewed the base pieces, reoriented them, refastened, clicked the center piece into the outside pieces, et voila. Someone might scold me for using this rack "not for its intended purpose," but I'm all about repurposing. I'm interested to see if the center is going to bow. I don't think it will, because the center pieces (top and base) are short, with long sections going into the pieces on either side. This means there's a lot of double reinforcement. I have another windchime, almost as long but not nearly as heavy. You know what that means... I'm going to buy this again -- from this quality seller, of course.

Don't even bother with the cheapo clothes racks that have the plastic bottoms and inserts for the upright poles... they WILL snap eventually! I got this because it is ALL metal. You would need to have serious anger issues to snap this. It holds a good amount, and the bottom luggage/ shoe rack is nice. There are two "nubbies" on the end of the clothing rod to keep hangers from slipping off the sides. It Will get top-heavy if you hang too much heavy stuff on it, so you will want to steady the crossbar to keep it from swaying while rolling it from place to place. BTW, the casters are good 2" wheels or so, have locks, and roll quite smoothly even on carpet. The bottom rack is metal and slatted; it feels fine for shoes but I personally would put a board across it if I was going to put anything heavy on it. I got two of these to divide my seasonal clothes and am very happy!
