     The permanence is non-existent past motor assembly. The motor doesn't provide enough power to run the entire assembly. You get what you pay. In this case, a puzzle which doesn't function from beginning to end. As for durability, the pieces are pretty sturdy. However, you won't learn much beyond engineering. Overall, I would say it is junk, which is why it was added to my kids broken item junkyard.
