I need something more solid
I realize this isn't reasonable, but I need an iron that will survive an occasional fall from the ironing board to the floor.I sew, so the iron is out basically all the time. On an ironing board. That I sometimes accidentally knock it off of. I've tried to arrange things to avoid this but I must recognize my own limits, give myself some grace, and accept that I'm not going to achieve a zero-falling-iron standard.After its 3rd fall, this iron's plastic is still totally intact. (On my previous iron, a lower budget model, the plastic had split completely.) But this iron has completely come apart at the base and won't go back together. I think I need either an iron that's actually made entirely of metal, or one that can pop back together like legos. Or I'm doomed to just keep buying irons.Maybe a carpetEdit: I came across a blog post which validated my iron-dropping ways (apparently it's not as much of a personal failing as I thought) and apparently the solution is a gravity feed model.
